CVS Trippin'

This might be my best trip to CVS ever...so far at least!! I guess that makes up for last week. :)

I had $5.00 ECBs that I knew I needed to stretch pretty far. I was also in desperate need of diapers for Lillian. So I did "moneymaker" transaction first to stretch my $5 ECBs further.

Transaction #1: (done at pharmacy counter)

1 Alavert $5.99
1 Children's Advil $5.79

coupons:
$2 off $10 CVS
$2 Advil
$4 Alavert
$3.00 ECBs

TOTAL: $1.39 paid on a $5 gift card (they messed up my ECBs one time and gave me that instead)

RECEIVED BACK:

$5.79 ECB (from advil)
$3.00 ECV (from Alavert)

Transaction #2:

1 Huggies $8.99 (working towards $5.00 back after buying $25.00)
1 CVS q-tips $1.50

coupons used:
$1 (huggies)
$2 (CVS skin)
$2 off $10 CVS coupon
$5 ECBs

Total: $0.62 (paid on CVS gift card)

Transaction #3

1 Huggies $8.99
1 CVS q-tips $1.50

coupons used:
$1 huggies
$2 off $10 CVS
$2 CVS skin
$5.79 ECBs

which put me -$0.06 so I had them adjust my skincare coupon to $1.94!!!

GRAND TOTAL: $0.00

Transaction #4 (done at a different store)

1 Huggies $8.99
1 Colgate $2.79
1 Colgate $0.00 (BOGO)

coupons used:
$1 huggies
$2 off $10 CVS
$2 Colgate coupon I got from the register
$1 Colgate coupons I got from the reigister
$2.99 paid on gift card

TOTAL out of pocket: $3.69

Received back $5.00 from the huggies!! The exact amount I came in with!!

GRAND SAVINGS: $41.77 and spend a TOTAL of $3.69 out of pocket!! (and came out with $5.00 ECBs!!!)

I pretty much look at that as 3 free packs of diapers...with some q-tips, medicine and toothpaste thrown in!

I can deal with that any day! Boy, I wish I had learned this when we were really broke. I mean, we are a family of 5 living on Robert's income alone. It just kills me to see how much I could have saved over the years when we were living on an extremely tight budget - and that's an understatement!! But the Lord has always taken care of us!!

  1. GREAT job, Linz!
I wish they had offered me a $5 gift card when they messed up my ECBs, but they didn't. :( Oh well. Hopefully corporate will fix it today.
It would have been nice to have been able to spend LESS yesterday, though (I'm all about $5 or less!).
As for wishing you knew this when times were tough, I'm right there with you. I'm just thankful to God, though, that He led me to this so that I can use it to help my family and others. :)
    GREAT DEALS!!! Way to go!

  2. Amazing! You are so good at this. Where did you get the Alavert and Advil coupons?

  3. Hey Emily! The coupons were printable coupons that I found through www.couponcravings.com. A website I frequent for good deals!

  4. Ok, I feel a bit random finally commenting...I've been stalking your blog for a while now and I LOVE it! (We were in youth group together at CPC...) So I've been working my CVS deals as well - where are you getting all of these $2 off CVS purchase coupons? At the end of nearly every receipt I've gotten a coupon for $2.50 off a CVS brand purchase of $12 or more, but no skin coupons, etc. Occasionally I get something else random, like today I got $2 off Playskool Cottony Cloths Baby Wipes...any help would be SO fabulous! Thanks!

  6. Wow! When can I sign up for the class that you just HAVE TO teach?
Seriously...you've inspired me--although my husband is still a skeptic that I am wasting more time than I am saving money--but I look forward to being able to share the types of transactions you are having...keep it up--and keep them coming! I love reading about it!

If you don't have anything nice to say, then, please don't say anything at all! THANKS!
